What is Draft Encryption Policy ? [EXPLAINED]

This Video Explains What Is Draft Encryption Policy.

WHAT IS ENCRYPTION ?

Encryption is the most effective way to achieve data security. To read an encrypted file, you must have access to a secret key or password that enables you to decrypt it. Unencrypted data is called plain text ; encrypted data is referred to as cipher text.

All messaging services like WhatsApp, Viber, Google Chat, Yahoo messenger use encrypted services. For instance, when a WhatsApp message is sent, it’s automatically encrypted or turned into scrambled text, which is then unscrambled for the recipient. This encryption happens automatically using keys at both ends of the conversation and users don’t play a role in this. Banks and e-commerce sites also use encryption to protect financial and private data including passwords.

What is the draft encryption policy?

According to the terms of the new draft encryption policy, “user shall reproduce the same Plain text and encrypted text pairs using the software/hardware used to produce the encrypted text from the given plain text. All information shall be stored by the concerned B/C business/citizen entity for 90 days from the date of transaction and made available to Law Enforcement Agencies as and when demanded in line with the provisions of the laws of the country.”

This means The Government will have access to all encrypted information, including personal emails, messages or even data stored on a private business server, according to the draft of a new encryption policy. The Draft National Encryption Policy wants users to store all encrypted communication for at least 90 days and make it available to security agencies, if required, in text form. It also wants everyone to hand over their encryption keys to the government.

                What Concerns are Raised  ?

Almost everyone using the Internet will find themselves in violation of these rules. It is hence detached from the ground realities. This policy has been drafted for the PC era and does not take into consideration the mobile revolution in the country

BSNL to offer minimum broadband speed of 2 Mbps from October 1 at no extra cost

State-run BSNL will offer a minimumbroadband speed of 2 mega bit per second (Mbps) from October 1 onwards to its customers, at no extra cost.
The company currently offers a minimum speed of 512 Kbps and the move is part of its efforts for revival.
BSNL is loosing customers in mobile as well as landline to private operators. The company lost about 1.78 crore wireless and over 20 lakh wireline subscribers between March 2014 and March 2015. The losses for the firm stood at Rs 7,600 crore
Given the hyper competition in the marker, BSNL's announcement may also let private operators to offer higher speed at lower cost. Sectoral regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is also expected to soon redefine the definition of broadband speed, which is currently 512 kbps.
Launching the scheme here, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that BSNL should have frequent interface with customers and the efforts taken today by increasing the internet definition should help in digital India initiative, which is more for poor.
"We have increased the internet speed four times ...we have ensured 2 Mbps is available at last mile, which is the customer premises starting October 1," BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava said.
Srivastava added that BSNL is on a revival path and the company has added about 15 lakh mobile customers in last few months as against 7-8 lakh subscribers per month.

iPhone 6S Release Date Revealed

Want an iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus? It is now possible to say with almost 100% certainty when you will be able to buy them…
Following a leaked internal memo from Vodafone last month, prominent Japanese siteITHome and German tech experts Macerkopf have both discovered that the new iPhones 6Ses will launch in their respective countries on September 18th. This ties perfectly with the Vodafone internal memo for the UK, which also carried a September 18th launch date.
Japan, Germany and the UK are all tier one Apple launch countries with iPhones traditionally being made available to them at the same time as the US release.
For those still skeptical, the ever reliable 9to5Mac has also learnt Best Buy has partnered with Apple to begin offering AppleCare protection plans from September 14th. This gives the company a few days run in time ahead of the iPhone 6S launch.
Meanwhile September 9th continues to be held up as the day Apple will announce the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Again this dovetails perfectly with the circa 10 day gap Apple likes to have between iPhone announcements and the phones going on sale.
More Reasons To Be Excited
Of course talk of availability is not always enough to generate excitement, but the Wall Street Journal claims Apple is stockpiling a record 85-90 million iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus units ahead of launch so clearly the company’s hopes are high.

Introducing Android Marshmallow (6.0)

We all like marshmallows. Definitely the folks at Android since they have chosen it as the name for the next Android update (6.0). The fluffy treats beat the likes of M&Ms in the grand tradition of naming Android versions after any thing sweet, and in alphabetical order.
The previous versions of Android in order are: Cupcake (1.5); Donut (1.6); Eclair (2.0–2.1); Froyo (2.2–2.2.3); Gingerbread (2.3–2.3.7); Honeycomb (3.0–3.2.6); Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0–4.0.4); Jelly Bean (4.1–4.3.1); KitKat (4.4–4.4.4, 4.4W–4.4W.2) and Lollipop (5.0–5.1.1)
In a post on the Android Developers Blog, product manager Jamal Eason said developers can now download the software to create new apps or update existing ones.
“Android Marshmallow features a new permissions model that streamlines the app install and update process,” Eason said on new features in the version.  The new “permission model” is that users do not have to grant any permissions when they install or upgrade the app. “Instead, the app requests permissions as it needs them, and the system shows a dialog to the user asking for the permission.”
The new version will also support fingerprint authentication in apps if it is running on a compatible device with a fingerprint sensor.
